Book 1 : Prologue
He watched as she folded her arms across her chest, her blue eyes cold and calculating. Behind her stood another man, his hands rested on her waist and his lips continued to plant kisses on her neck. He didn't say a word, he already knew she was leaving him for the man currently trying to have sex with her in his office. He raised an eyebrow, waiting for her to say the words so he could get this done and over with.
She swallowed, "I, Christine Laurel Black, reject you, Dimitri Xander Black, as my mate and alpha."
The pain was quick to make itself known in his heart, it sliced through his chest like a blade. He clenched his jaw, keeping his face void of any emotion. He laughed, but he was bemused with the whole situation.
"You're a pathetic excuse for a mother." he spat.
She rolled her eyes, "You think I care about those two little bitches? I only gave birth to them so you could have a heir, not that it would matter. This pack will burn anyway."
"This pack is one of the strongest in the US, I'm up for the challenge if you and horny boy over there think you could make a stronger one." he grinned, taking a sip of his whiskey.
"Don't tempt me, Dimitri."
"It's Alpha Black to you." he sneered.
"You can keep those pathetic girls, I refuse to claim them as my daughters anymore." she stated with confidence.
"Leave."
She smiled sweetly at him before grabbing the other man by his hand, ushering him out of the office. Once they left he threw his glass at the wall, hot anger coursed through his veins, burning him. He ran his hand through his hair, his mind drifting off to his daughters. He shook his head, for so long he had known this was coming, but he had tried shielding his daughters from it. He knew, tomorrow morning, that they would wake up and ask him where their mother was. His heart ached for the pain he'll see in their eyes, he can't lie to them, they would know. He smiled a little to himself, the one thing he was thankful for was that they got his personality.
His youngest daughter, Sage, was more like him, but Sara was close. He was thankful they didn't have their mother's brain, goddess, he had no idea what he would do if they did. He was pulled from his thoughts at the opening of his office door, when he looked up he became tense. Standing before him were his two young daughters, tears streaming down their faces.
"Mommy hates us." Sara cried softly, her blue eyes shining with pain.
He frowned and knelt down, he opened up his arms as she ran towards him. She was engulfed by his hug, her tears soaking a small section of his shoulder. He looked up to see his youngest wiping the tears from her eyes and looking down. He smiled softly at her, feeling horrible for them.
"Sage, come here." he said gently.
She shook her head, "Mommy said you hate us too."
He bit back a growl, of course she would lie to them. He shook his head, "I could never hate you two, you are the best thing to happen to me. Your mother is..." he trailed off, not knowing what to say about her.
"She's a heartless jerk." Sage stated, her eyes shining with the new anger.
He didn't say anything as she ran over and hugged him too, his arms tightening around them. He kissed them both on the head, making a silent promise to always protect them from the pain. To always be a parent to them and love them no matter what. To make sure they never feel this sort of pain again.

"We need to do something, he's scaring me!" Sara whisperâyelled.
Sage sighed, "And what exactly do you propose we should do? Find him some sheâwolf to screw?"
"Well, no, but someone to love him like mom couldn't."
"Mom was his true mate, he won't love another woman besides her."
"And how do you know that? Sage, come on, dad's...he's becoming so...cruel. I don't like it."
Sage sighed in defeat, "I don't either, but Sara, you know he won't love another woman again. He hates the idea of love. Mom hurt him..."
Both girls fell silent, an ache in their chest at the thought of what their mom had done. Years ago they didn't understand their father's anger, all they knew was that their mother was gone. She left with another man, throwing away her bond like it was garbage. She abandoned them, that's all they could think of it. Sage felt disgusted with her mother, that disgust never went away. She hated the way she had hurt their father so deeply, causing all this hatred to form in his heart.
"She ruined him." Sage stated bitterly.
Sara frowned, her own hatred towards her mother burned within her heart. "But someone can fix him."
"There's no such thing as a second chance mate. You know that." Sage replied with a frown.
Sara shrugged, "But love never fails, grandma said that there's a possibility for him to fall in love again. I don't like seeing him like this. He's been the best father to us, not only that, but took over mom's spot as well. He's trying so hard to protect us from the pain of our mother abandoning us, but it still hurts. It still hurts to see him suffer like this each day. If the council found outâ
"Dad would kill them. He promised them that. Even when they threatened to send their own army he said he would slaughter them all." Sage cut in.
Sara shook her head, "He's deadly."
"I know, the only good thing about it is the fact packs are too scared to attack us."
"You don't think he would ever hit us, do you?"
Sage shook her head, "If dad hits one of us...you know it would destroy him."
"I hate hearing all those assholes calling him a monster in school." Sara pouted.
"I do too, but as of right now, we can't do anything."
"We could talk to him."
Sage bit her lip, she would never admit to her sister that she's afraid to talk to him. The thought of bringing this up to him and him snapping frightened her. She had no clue what she would do if his anger was directed at her. She's seen him at his worst, his worst was the scariest thing she had ever seen. Almost falling off a cliff doesn't compare to it.
"Come on, let's go and get ready for training." Sage spoke, grabbing Sara's wrist.
Sara reluctantly followed, feeling pity for her father. As they scurried through the halls they ran into their father. He chuckled and caught them before they toppled onto the ground.
"Slow down there, you two." He grinned.
Both girls returned the smile, whenever he was around them or his brothers he would smile. That was the only time though.
"Sorry, we were going to get ready for training." Sara explained.
He nodded, "Okay, oh, and no knocking anyone out today." He stated, giving a pointed look towards Sage.
She smirked and shrugged, "That girl had it coming, shouldn't have disrespected me."
He shook his head, but the amusement was still evident in his eyes. "Go get ready." He chuckled.
"Yes, sir!" Both girls grinned, saluting him.
He rolled his eyes before turning and disappearing into his office. Sage smirked at her sister.
"Bet I could reach the alpha hall before you." She challenged.
Sara raised an eyebrow, "Is that a challenge?"
"Totally."
"Challenge accepted."
Book 1: Chapter 2
Book 1: Chapter 2
The black wolf darted through the trees, Rosalie's yellow eyes searching for a safe zone. She glanced behind her to see the two wolves closing in on her. Both of them radiated power, but not strong enough to be an Alpha. She gulped, they were definitely the beta and gamma.
Her lungs were burning, her muscles ached, but she kept on running. She had no idea where she was going, but as she neared a large field she noticed multiple people training. She skidded to a halt right in front of a tall man. More like she stopped right behind him, she tilted her head, admiring his muscled back. However, it was short lived, for he spun around the minute the other two wolves barked.
Dimitri's silver colored eyes landed on her, they were emotionless and cold. She felt a shiver run down her spine as she stared at him. She had to figure out her escape route, she stood up and shook out her fur. She was about to run when the man grabbed her by the scruff.
"Don't even think about it, rogue." He spat.
Rosalie had the urge to growl at him, she wasn't a rogue. She's an alpha. It took her a moment to realize that she was currently running away from her pack, losing her status as alpha.
"Okay, maybe I am a rogue." She thought to herself.
"Great, you noticed. Better than being with our jackass mate though." Her wolf grumbled.
"Agreed."
Rosalie focused on everyone, they were all in a stance, ready to attack her. She looked back up at the man who let go of her. She fell to the ground softly, she growled lowly at him in annoyance.
Dimitri raised an eyebrow, "Feisty rogue." He mumbled before focusing on the wolves who chased her.
"What did I tell you two about chasing rogues on to the training grounds? You're risking multiple lives." Dimitri scolded.
The one wolf, a dark grey one with brown eyes, shifted back. She was stunned to see that he shifted back to having clothes on.
"Well, that's new." She thought.
"She's just one rogue, but we're sorry." He sighed.
Dimitri shook his head, "Uh huh." He then looked at her. "Sage or Sara, grab one of my shirts for this...sheâwolf."
She was stunned, one of his shirts? A few seconds passed before a girl who looked like the female version of the man appeared. Sage watched her with curiosity as she handed her the shirt. The black wolf softly grabbed it before hiding some place to get changed. Once she reappeared she stood before the tall man.
"I'm assuming you're the alpha." She spoke, glancing at him.
He nodded, "Why are you on my territory?" He demanded.
"Well, nice to meet you too. Name is Rosalie." She grumbled sarcastically.
He sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. "Name is Alpha Dimitri Black, but you can call me Alpha Black. Now. Answer my damn question."
"My, my, pushy, aren't we? If you must know, I didn't mean to run into your territory. You can blame these two idiots for scaring the living day lights out of me. I stumbled and fell onto your territory before they started chasing me."
He narrowed his eyes at her before looking at the two men. "Is this true?"
"Yes, alpha." The second man, who she didn't even realize shifted, said.
Dimitri nodded before focusing on her once again. She shifted uncomfortably on her feet, "Are you going to kill me or set me free?"
"Why would I kill you?" He asked, amusement dancing in his eyes.
She raised an eyebrow, "Well, you are Alpha Black. The alpha who slaughters anything or anyone who doesn't belong and ends up on your territory."
"Ah, so you've heard of me. No shocker there." He replied. "I only kill rogues that mean to walk on here, since you literally fell over the border and my men started chasing you deeper into my land, I'm letting you free. I better not see you on my land again." He warned.
She gave him a large grin, "Thank you, Alpha."
She turned to leave when a girl suddenly spoke. "What pack did you come from?"
She turned to see the girl from before looking at her. She pursed her lips, "That's not important. Let's just say...it's a pack that you shouldn't be allies with."
"It would help if you told us the name." Dimitri sighed.
She smirked, "I still have their scent. Take a whiff boys and girl, get to know my old pack."
"Your scent is mixed in with my dad's...since you're wearing his shirt." The girl chuckled.
Rosalie smiled softly, "That's why you look like him. Well, fine, I'll tell you. I'm from the Blue Eclipse pack, just south of here. I left for reasons surrounding my...uh...well, he's not...that anymore...anyways! I'm leaving. Bye!"
With that she turned around, with a grin she took off the shirt, held it with her mouth and shifted. She then took off, not looking behind her once. Well, except for when she wanted one last glance at the famous Alpha Black, who's also hot. Very hot.
"Whoever his mate is, she's one lucky bitch." She thought to herself.
***
"Well, this is new." She spoke, leading the girls back to their pack.
The silver eyed girl sighed, "Okay, maybe we shouldn't have followed you. But there were rogues and since you were nice we figured we could escort you out."
Rosalie raised an eyebrow, "I'm perfectly capable of killing a few rogues, but thank you."'
"You're welcome."
"So, do you like our father?"
Book 1: Chapter 3
Book 1: Chapter 3
She turned towards Sara, laughing softly. "No, I don't like him as a friend or lover...since I barely know him."'
"But if you did know him a little more...?"
"Okay, what are you two trying to do?" She questioned with narrowed eyes.
Sara laughed nervously, "Nothing. Just curious, that's all. Most women would be begging him to take them to his room andâ
"Okay! I don't need to know that! The fact that you, his daughters, know that and find nothing awkward about it is weird." She frowned. "If someone begged my father to screw them I would slap them while gagging, then lock my dad in his room."
Sage laughed, "Oh, trust me, it's weird. But we can't help it, we're in the alpha hall as well."
"Alpha hall?"
"A hall in the pack house, my dad doesn't actually do anything with them. He refuses to. After hearing it for years, we just roll our eyes at the desperate women." She explained.
Rosalie nodded, "What are your names anyway?" She asked, wanting to change the topic.
"They certainly have no problem talking about anything." Her wolf commented.
Rosalie silently agreed with her as she waited for the girls to answer.
"Name is Sage." The silver eyed one smiled.
"And I'm Sara, we're twins." The blue eyed one voiced.
Rosalie frowned, "Twins?"
"Yeah, fraternal." Sage chuckled.
Rosalie laughed, "Of course."
They continued walking in the direction of the pack, talking about anything. They were a mile away when they heard low growls from behind them. Rosalie quickly turned and grabbed the girls, putting them behind her. She growled loudly as six rogues slowly crawled out from the bushes, baring their teeth.
"This is why, as the alpha's children, you do not leave pack grounds. Alone." Rosalie quietly scolded the girls.
Sara and Sage nodded, eyeing the rogues with anger and a little fear. Without any warning they all lunged at once, Rosalie ordered the girls to run before shifting. She attacked two rogues as the girls shifted and took off. She killed the two rogues and ran after the four that followed the girls. She jumped onto the back of one, easily snapping his neck. Another rogue stopped running and attacked Rosalie, but she easily defended herself. Once that rogue was out of her way she continued running, relieved when Sage made it over. However, a rogue managed to attack Sara.
She growled and pulled the rogue off, throwing him into the other one. Sara's light grey fur had blood on it as she tried standing up. She looked up to see Sage run over and start nudging her sister to the border.
She focused on the rogues as they stood up, once again, trying to attack the girls. She threw her body in front of them as both rogues landed on her, crushing a few of her ribs. She shoved them off, but grabbed one by the back leg. She snapped the wolf's bone, and allowed it to lay there, whimpering.
She heard a loud yelp, she looked over to see Sage's white fur now red on her face. She growled and attacked the rogue. She was bewildered by how strong he was as he grabbed her by the throat and threw her into a tree.
Ignoring the sharp pain in her back and neck, she got up and lunged at him before he could grab Sara.
Sage watched with horrified yet awe filled eyes as Rosalie protected them. Rosalie was about to grab his front leg when he flipped her over, pinning her down. She bared her canines, trying to intimidate him, but it wasn't working. He clawed her stomach, allowing the blood to flow out and soak her fur. She tried to ignore the pain, but it was too much. She howled in agony as he continued slowly clawing her.
Suddenly, he stopped clawing her and the weight of him left. She rolled onto her side, trying to see what was happening. Her eyes widened at the sight. Before her, standing in a protective stance, was a large wolf. His fur was a beautiful mix of white and grey. She felt somewhat bad for the rogue whose eyes were wide with fear. She knew exactly who the wolf was.
Alpha Black.
Book 1: Chapter 4
Book 1: Chapter 4
"Do you think dad will let her stay?"
"Don't know, I hope so though. She killed the leader's mate, she's going to want her dead now."
Rosalie tried figuring out whose voices she was hearing, but her mind was a mess. She couldn't remember anything, all she knew was that she couldn't open her eyes. She tried making noise, she tried moving, but she couldn't do anything. All she heard was a heart monitor going crazy before plunging into the darkness again.
When she was finally able to wake up all her memories came crashing into her. Her head started to ache as she remembered everything that had happened.
"Ah, sleeping beauty is finally awake."
She snapped her head up to see a handsome man sitting on the couch in her hospital room. He had similar features to Dimitri, but he had black hair and blue eyes instead. When he stood up she gulped, he was definitely taller than Dimitri.
"How tall are you?" She blurted out.
He raised an eyebrow before laughing, "6'6."
"Damn...then how tall is Alpha Dimitri?"
"6'5, our other brother is 6'4 1/2."
She froze, "Other brother?"
The man nodded, "Ever hear of the three alpha brothers?"
"Yeah, they're the strongest alphas. Their packs are equally strong...oh my goddess..."
He nodded, a smirk appearing on his face. "I'm the eldest, name is Alpha Xavier, but you can call me Xavier. The next brother is Alpha Xander, he's my twin. Younger by two minutes. Then there's Dimitri, the baby brother. There's another but...we don't mention him much."
"I'm not a baby."
Both looked over to see Dimitri and another man walking into the room. He briefly glance at her, his cold eyes had a spark of relief in them. She stayed quiet as he stood before them, arms folded across his chest. She suddenly felt nervous around them, she had no idea if those stories she heard were true. She remembered her mother telling her to never go on any of their lands. She frowned, she definitely failed at that.
"So, what are we doing with her?" Xavier questioned.
Rosalie looked up in confusion, "You're actually deciding that? I'm a rogue, you should either kill me or set me free."
"Well, you didn't step onto my land and you protected my daughters, I'm not killing you. Setting you free would mean your death, so that isn't happening either. My brothers are here for other reasons, but we're deciding on who's pack you should stay with." Dimitri explained. "I've already decided though, she's staying with my pack."
Xavier had his smirk on his face again, "So, your heart is actually there?"
Dimitri scowled at him, "It's not my fault."
Looks of sorrow crossed over Xavier's and the other man's faces. Xavier smiled softly at Dimitri before patting him on the shoulder.
"I know." He said softly.
Rosalie watched the whole ordeal, even more confused now. She was curious as to what Dimitri meant by something not being his fault. She tilted her head, it definitely had something to do with how he acts. As she tried figuring this out the brothers agreed and looked back at her.
"So, do you want to join my pack or one of their's?" Dimitri asked.
Rosalie chewed on her lip, "I'll stay here. With this pack."
"Awe, but my pack is better!" Xavier whined.
She raised an eyebrow, "I find it hard to believe that you're the oldest brother."
Dimitri and the other man, who she assumed was Xander, burst out laughing. She smiled a little at the laughter coming from Dimitri.
"How can one man be so...beautiful? His mate is so lucky." She thought.
"Can we kill his mate and keep him?" Her wolf asked.
Rosalie laughed at her wolf, "No. We're not going to split up mates."
"Goody two shoes." Her wolf grumbled.
"Is there a shower here?" Rosalie asked as she started to get up.
Dimitri's eyes widened as he rushed over, gently pushing her down. She gave him a confused look before glancing at his brothers. She frowned at their amused smiles and knowing looks.
"The doctor said you need to rest for a few days. You broke four ribs, tore multiple muscles in your leg, back, and neck, and you have stitches in currently." He explained, quickly stepping away from her.
She nodded, "Okay...so...what about when I have to use the bathroom? I'd rather a nurse help me, if that's the case. Not you two and definitely not you." She asked, giving a pointed look towards Xavier.
Xavier had a lazy grin on his face, "I'm sure Dimitri can help you. Anyways, I have to go and make sure my daughter didn't kill anyone and make sure my mate isn't strangling any sheâwolves. She looks hot when she does it though...so...may watch for a few seconds." Xavier said thoughtfully.
Dimitri rolled his eyes, "Xavier, I'd love it if Catherine doesn't kill any of my pack members."
"Fine. Party pooper. This is why I'm the fun one in the family." Xavier grumbled. "See ya around, Rosie."
Rosalie glared at him as he just smiled innocently at her. "Do not call me Rosie."
"Whatever you say, Rosie."
After he left she growled, "Can I kill him?"
Dimitri smirked, "Sadly, I love my idiotic brother, so no. You can annoy him though."
"What would be a good nickname for someone called Xavier?" She mused.
Xander smirked, "Avie."
"Oh, he'll hate that." Dimitri chuckled.
"Then it's settled, I'm now calling the idiot, Avie." Rosalie grinned.
Book 1: Chapter 5
Book 1: Chapter 5
"Dimitri."
"Yes?"
"I have to pee."
He slowly looked up from his paperwork, raising an eyebrow at Rosalie. She frowned at him and narrowed her eyes.
"Don't give me that look, I have a bladder. It gets full and when that happens I have to pee. Your bladder works the same way." She grumbled.
Amusement shined in his eyes, she almost smiled when she saw the ghost of a smile on his face. He sighed and placed the paperwork on the hospital bed and gently helped her up. She winced as she walked, the pain shot through her leg, back, and neck.
"I can sit on the toilet myself." She chuckled.
He didn't say anything as he helped her walk into the bathroom. He was a little reluctant to stay outside of the bathroom, he didn't want her falling and him needing to rip off the door. However, he let go after making sure she was fine.
Rosalie felt awkward going to the bathroom while her new temporary alpha was standing outside the door. She quickly finished and washed her hands, when she was done she sighed. A dizzy spell washed over her, but she ignored it and unlocked the door.
"Hey, Dimitri...IâI don't feel so good.." She mumbled, her grip becoming lose as she started to fall forward.
Dimitri quickly opened the door and caught her, he then carefully carried her back to the bed and laid her down. He checked her stitches, relieved when he saw they were still the same as before. He pulled the blanket over her and backed away. He frowned when he found himself watching her with concern, almost immediately he walked to his chair and sat down.
"It won't happen again, no more pain." He thought to himself.
For years, ever since Christine had left him, he had a constant pain in his chest. Every time she mated with her new lover that pain would reach an unbearable level. It was almost every night he found himself curled up on the ground, trying his hardest to escape the pain. He was grateful that his daughters were in their own rooms, sleeping. He didn't want them seeing him like this, he tried his best to make them hate their mother a little less. No matter how much he loathed the woman, he didn't want his daughters hating her a lot.
"She abandoned them, she doesn't deserve their love." His wolf sounded.
Dimitri sighed, "I don't care if they love her or not, but I don't want them turning out to be like me. Seeking revenge and wanting to kill until they're satisfied."
His wolf didn't say anything after that, Dimitri ran his hand through his hair as he continued thinking about his exâmate. Deep down, past all that betrayal and hatred, he still loved her. Even though he said the words of accepting her rejection, he still didn't emotionally accept it. He hated himself for it, he was literally torturing himself.
"If you let another woman love you, those feelings will go away. Along with the pain. You're slowly killing us, Dimitri. We can't abandon Sara and Sage." His wolf pointed out.
Dimitri clenched his jaw, he knew his wolf was right, but he couldn't just love another woman again. No one made him feel the same way, not anymore. He looked at Rosalie, admiring her beauty. He smiled a little as he thought over what she has done since he first met her.
"You're one weird sheâwolf." He chuckled in the quiet room.
"I hear that a lot. Used to." She whispered suddenly.
He froze, but relaxed. "You did?"
She yawned and slowly opened her eyes. "In my old pack, I wasn't the normal warrior type girl who wore slutty clothing. I wasn't good enough though."
He furrowed his eyebrows as she started to fall asleep again. "Good enough?"
She nodded tiredly, "Not for him...oh well...there's always someone else out there." She murmured.
He sat there in stunned silence as she drifted off to sleep once again. He swallowed and looked down.
"Could I love again?" He wondered.
***
Rosalie sighed as she stared at the ceiling, trying to come up with something to do so she didn't die of boredom. She smirked as she eyed Dimitri, who was currently working on paperwork. Again. For the past four hours that's all he did, besides the few minutes he had to get a desperate nurse to leave him alone. He ended up ordering that only male nurses check up on her, as long as he's with her. She was confused with the fact he didn't want any male speaking to her without him there, but shrugged it off.
She reached over and grabbed the pen sitting on her bed, with delicacy, she threw it at Dimitri. He growled as it smacked him in the head before landing on his papers. He looked up to see Rosalie grinning at him, it was hard for him to fight his smile. He raised an eyebrow, silently questioning her. Asking if she was really about to challenge him.
"I bet I can get you to so annoy that you'll leave the room in a minute." She stated confidently.
He chuckled, "Is that so?"
"You accepting the challenge or no?"
He shrugged, "Paperwork isn't entertaining me anymore. So, challenge accepted."
Book 1: Chapter 6
Book 1: Chapter 6
In less than a minute of constantly humming loudly and teasing him, he cracked. However, he didn't do what she had expected him to do. Instead of walking out he walked up to her and gently grabbed her wrists, pinning them above her head. He then straddled her, a triumphant smirk plastered on his face. She scowled at him, annoyed that she had lost her bet.
He laughed, "So, what do I win?" He questioned, getting off.
"An hour of freedom from my annoying games." She yawned.
He smiled softly, his eyes sparkled with amusement. "Why don't you rest? You need your sleep in order to heal."
"But I don't want to sleep, that's all I've been doing for the whole day!" She sighed.
He laughed as he shook his head, "Your body is tired, darling."
"Don't call me darling." She huffed.
"Hey guys!"
Both snapped their heads up to see Xavier stumbling in, wearing a hospital gown. Rosalie gaped at him while Dimitri rolled his eyes. Following the alpha was a rather beautiful woman who wore an amused expression.
Rosalie suddenly felt insecure at the woman's beauty. She had long, slightly curly, black hair, her skin was tan and flawless, and her eyes were a golden brown. She smiled warmly at Dimitri before looking at the slightly insecure sheâwolf.
"You must be Rosalie." The woman grinned.
Rosalie quietly nodded, too nervous to say anything. The woman laughed, "Name is Luna Catherine, but you can just call me Catherine. Oh! Sorry about...him, he's out of it." She sighed.
Rosalie looked over to see Xavier's ass hanging out of the hospital gown. She burst out laughing, earning the man's attention. He frowned at her, slightly tilting his head in confusion.
"What? Is there something on me?" He asked, turning back around.
This only managed to make Rosalie laugh more. She shook her head, barely forming the words. "Yâyour ass is hanging out!" She breathed.
Beside her, Catherine and Dimitri were laughing as well. Catherine eventually guided Xavier to the couch and laid him down.
"I want some food." He suddenly spoke, grinning.
The black haired sheâwolf sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose. "You can't eat anything, you'll puke. Now, shut up andâ
"DANCE WITH ME!" Xavier sang, throwing his hands in the air.
Dimitri suddenly laughed, "What the hell did they give him?"
"I don't fucking know! But he's been acting like a lunatic for the last thirty minutes. I'm about to kill him, but I love the crazy bastard too much!" The woman ranted.
Rosalie chuckled, "Well, he certainly seems happy."
"Yeah, but he's such a pain in the ass." Catherine sighed.
"Hey, I used to be a pain in the ass. But after that one night I'm now a pleasure to haveâ
"Xavier!" Catherine shrieked, cutting him off.
He scowled at her, "You only scream like that in the bed."
She gaped at him, "I can't believe you." She growled.
Rosalie and Dimitri were laughing as the couple argued. Dimitri went on to explain that Catherine was Xavier's mate and that they've been mates for eighteen years. Rosalie grew curious as she looked at them.
"How old are you guys?" She asked, looking at Dimitri.
He smiled, "Xavier is 38, Catherine is 36, Xander is also 38, his mate is 34, they have a baby girl. I'm 36 and my daughters are 16."
"Ah, so you had them when you were 20." Rosalie observed, quickly doing the math.
He nodded, "My mate was 19 at the time."
"Speaking of which, where is your mate? I haven't seen her, gotta say, she's on lucky bitch to have you."
Her eyes widened as she realized what she said, with a red face she quickly turned away from Dimitri.
"Sorry, I shouldn't have said that." She murmured.
She was surprised when he laughed, "It's fine. My mate...is now my exâmate. She left me for someone else and disowned Sara and Sage." He explained.
She frowned at him, "I'm so sorry, I sort of know how that feels. My mate left me for some slut in my pack and even turned my pack against me. I showed them all the truth before I left. Told them I was disgusted by them and wished to never see any of them again. I also rejected my mate, but I still sometimes feel the pain of him having intercourse with his new partner." She whispered, tears gathering in her eyes as she remembered the pain.
She quickly blinked them away though and looked back at the frowning alpha. She smiled sadly.
"I guess even the fates make mistakes." She laughed humorlessly.

Book 1: Chapter 7
Dimitri gave her a sorrowful look, "I'm sorry."
She quietly thanked him before her tiredness finally caught up. He smiled and told her to rest, that he would be here when she wakes up. She gave him a thankful look before closing her eyes.
***
Dimitri sighed as he ran his hand through his hair, his head aching from the paperwork in front of him. Every now and then he would glance at Rosalie's sleeping form, making sure she was alright. Other times he would deal with his lunatic of a brother laying on the couch in the room, singing random songs. He chuckled as Xavier continued to sing songs, shaking his head.
"What kind of medicine did they give you?" He asked, turning to face his brother.
Xavier raised an eyebrow before shrugging, "Don't know, but I think it's starting to wear off. Ya know, you should take Rosalie on a date when she's healed."
Dimitri frowned at him, his mind blank of what to do or say to that. After hearing no answer from his brother, Xavier turned and looked at him.
"I see the way you look at her and care for her. You haven't looked at a woman like that since Christine. It's time for you to start dating again, Rosie is perfect for that." He explained.
Dimitri shook his head, "I don't want to hurt her."
"And how would you hurt her?"
"I can't love her like I loved Christine."
Xavier smiled softly at his brother, "What was between you and Christine was simply attraction. Christine was only in it for the money and power, once she found someone else she left you. She disowned her children. Rosie is better than Christine. She's stunning, how can you not want her?"
"I do want her, but..."
"But what?"
"But what if I'm not enough? I wasn't enough for my own mate, it's obvious I'm doing something wrong." Dimitri sighed.
Xavier frowned at him, "You did nothing wrong. You treated Christine like a queen and she took it for granted. No one will ever be good enough for that bitch, you know that. I can tell Rosalie is different. She's good for you."
Dimitri looked back at the sleeping sheâwolf, her beauty took his breath away each time he looked at her. He couldn't deny that he was attracted to her, maybe even more than he was to Christine. He bit his lip, he wanted to get to know her. They both went through bad breakups with their mates and both had their mates cheating on them. She understands him, she doesn't beg him for sex or the Luna title, she doesn't ask him for anything besides help walking across the room. He titled his head, she even protected his daughters and didn't ask for anything in return. He smiled softly, an idea forming in his head.
One date can't do anything.
It wasn't until two hours later that Rosalie woke up, when he saw her eyes open he sat up and grinned at her. She smiled at him before yawning and sitting up, with his help.
"When am I going to be released?" She asked, getting sick of the hospital feel.
Dimitri chuckled, "The doctor is going to check on you in the morning. If you're healed, she'll let you go."
Rosalie nodded and sighed, she stared at the ceiling, thinking of her old pack. She was the Luna of the pack, daughter of the pack's previous alphas. She abandoned them, but they had abandoned her first. All they did was bully her, treat her like garbage because of some lie her not so lovely mate created. She knew eventually they would search for her, with or without Cyrus' permission. He wasn't the true alpha of the pack after all. The pack will eventually want their original alpha back, they watched her grow up. They loved her family and her, they did everything for her.
She sighed, she couldn't go back though. Not when her mate is still
Alpha and when she left on bad terms. She left the pack believing she hated them, but in all honesty she didn't. She couldn't. She was disappointed in them though, as a pack who knew her well they should of known Cyrus was lying.
"You okay?"
She looked over to see Dimitri giving her a concerned look. She smiled softly at him, briefly wondering why he couldn't be her mate. "Just thinking of my pack."
"You miss them?" He asked.
She shook her head, "Just wondering how they're doing with...Cyrus as their alpha."
"Wait, you were Cyrus' mate?"
Rosalie nodded, "Yeah, unfortunately. He decided I wasn't good enough and moved onto a different girl. You'd think he would stay faithful to me, his mate."
Dimitri frowned, "He is also the one who my mate left with."
